The sky over the Level 190 hunting grounds didn't just turn red; it bled fire.
Sera Ashford didn’t hold back. She summoned a localized apocalypse, a downpour of cinders that turned the high-level mobs into nothing more than fuel for the pyre. Standing at the epicenter of the carnage, Ash Valor watched his interface go into a frantic, golden meltdown.
[Level Up: 120]

[Planar Vault Milestone Reached: +15,000 Gold Awarded]
The firestorm raged for thirty minutes. By the time the last ember flickered out, Ash stood at Level 124. Twelve levels in a single day—a vertical climb that would have sounded like a fairy tale to any other Pioneer.
As they stepped back onto the relative safety of the Guild Grounds, Ash felt the weight of his progress settling in.
"Tier Ascension Stone? Checked. Ten million Gold? Accounted for," he muttered, checking his inventory. He was halfway to the next evolution of his Soulbound Weapon. He still needed a thousand Enhancement Gems and a thousand Refined Gems—another ten million Gold total. It was a staggering price tag, enough to outfit an entire squad in Epic-Tier gear, but he knew the investment was worth it. One God-Tier weapon outweighed ten sets of armor.
He swiped his hand, bringing up the glowing blue translucent screen of The Interface:
Name: Ash Valor
Level: 124 (EXP: 19.86M)
Total Attributes: 137,695
Attack Power: 186,026
HP: 568,300 | Mana: 146,352 | Defense: 56,112
Range: 340m | Attack Speed: 7.2 | Movement: 116
Active Skills:
1. Tenfold Shot
2. Armorpiercer (Lv. 2: +20% Damage)
3. Crushing Blow (Lv. 2: 20% Chance for Double Damage)
4. Meteor Volley
Universal Skills: Phantom Summon, Blink, Eye of Clarity, Ward's Bulwark, Damage Reflection, Granite Bulwark
"My raw combat power is pushing the Level 150 bracket," Ash noted, a grin tugging at his lips. He knew today was an anomaly—he wouldn't always have a powerhouse like Sera to pull him along. The next eight million Gold would have to be earned the hard way, one mob at a time. If he averaged twenty thousand a day, he’d hit his goal within the year.
He sent out friend requests to the nine others who had survived the grind, but he saved a private message for Sera.
"Thanks for the carry. Let's do it again sometime."
Sera’s reply was almost instantaneous. "Save the thanks. Just stay alive, Ash. Your potential is deeper than you think."
She paused, then added, "Look at Evan Valor. He was a nobody until he hit Level 100. He spent two centuries in the shadows before he redefined the world. Who’s to say you aren’t the next one to step into those boots?"
Ash snorted, typing back, "Flattery is one thing, but don't set the bar at 'God-King of Azure Prime' just yet."
"I hunted with Evan for a long time," Sera replied, her tone shifting to something more serious. "His core skill was a basic Elemental Phantom Summon. On its own? Average. But paired with a Zero-Cooldown Awakening? He became a one-man legion. Everyone knows the name, but few understand the grind."
"I have the Zero-Cooldown, sure," Ash countered. "But I'm not a Mage. My Meteor Volley hits like a wet noodle compared to a real caster's burst. Mages have the Mana pools for that kind of sustained fire. I’m just an Archer with a gimmick."
"You have 'One in a Million,' Ash. That’s a growth-type talent. In a world of fixed caps, you're a variable. Don't waste it. For now, tell people you're A-Rank. Keep your real talent close to the chest. Azure Prime needs you to survive long enough to actually matter."
Ash stared at the screen. The weight of her words—the comparison to a legend like Evan Valor—sent a chill down his spine. Could I really get there? If he focused on Meteor Volley for the hordes and his bow for the bosses, his efficiency would be terrifying.
He decided to test the waters. "Since you're so high on my potential, how about a small investment? Say, eight million Gold?"
"Don't make me call you a bastard, Ash," Sera shot back. "Everyone is after my wallet. Get to work."
Back in the trenches of the Guild Grounds, the atmosphere was electric. Sera’s presence had boosted everyone’s Kill Count bonuses, but Ash’s small circle had gained the most. He didn't waste time, immediately poaching the talent.
[Nina Fang has joined Galeforce Squad.]
[Vera Laine has joined Galeforce Squad.]
An Assassin and a Cleric—both high-tier prospects. They slotted into the team alongside Brett Fang, rounding out a squad that was punching far above its weight class.
"Two hours extra tonight," Ash announced to the group. "That’s another two thousand attribute points a year if we keep the pace."
The grind began anew. Ash was a whirlwind of motion, but he noticed something different this time. The support was seamless.
[You have received Celeste Quinn’s Blessing of Insight: Mana Regen +100%]
[You have received Ellis Yang’s Mana Amplification: Max Mana +20%]
[You have received Vera Laine’s Aura of Blessing: HP/MP Recovery +100%]
With the Guild's Wellspring buff stacked on top, Ash’s blue bar was refilling almost as fast as he could spend it. He wasn't just an Archer anymore.
"Call me the Arcane Archer!" he laughed, downing a mana potion to top off the tank.
He checked his summons. Chitin, his primary Undying Skeleton, had leveled alongside him to 124. Thanks to its Epic-Tier scaling and Lyra Fang’s dedicated healing, the creature was becoming a walking fortress.
"Captain," Vera Laine said, her eyes scanning Ash's summons with a tactical sharpness. "Have you considered gear for your Phantoms? Specifically, items with Searing Blaze?"
Ash paused, a Meteor Volley dying in his hands. "Go on."
"If you equip your summons with AoE burn gear, the damage stacks. Ten summons becomes a mobile forest fire. It’s basic math for summoners, but most people skip it because of the cost."
"Vera," Ash said, genuinely impressed. "That advice is worth its weight in gems." He turned to Grant Fang. "You hear that? That's what a brain looks like. Try using yours occasionally."
"You didn't think of it either, 'Captain,'" Grant barked back. "And for the record, my summons don't have burn gear because I'm broke, not because I'm stupid."
Ash ignored the jab and pulled up The Exchange. He had a bit of capital now, and it was time to spend it. He filtered for the most expensive plate armor available for summons.
[Glory Plate (Epic-Tier) - Level 120]
Price: 400,000 Gold
+240 All Stats | +24,000 HP | +5,000 Defense
Effect 1: Searing Blaze (Deals 1% Max HP damage per second to nearby enemies)
Effect 2: Thorns (Reflects 20% Physical Damage)
Looking at Chitin’s massive HP pool, Ash didn't hesitate. He dropped a cool million Gold, kitting Chitin out in the full Glory Set.
The result was immediate. A halo of sickly green fire erupted around the skeleton.
"Why green?" Ash muttered as the damage numbers began to tick over the mobs in toxic emerald hues. He didn't care. His DPS on the guild leaderboards was skyrocketing.
"Holy shit," someone shouted. "Captain, you’re in the Top 12 for total output!"
"Don't act surprised," Ash said, though his heart hammered against his ribs. "I'm a one-man army."
He turned back to Vera. "Any other 'unmature' suggestions?"
Vera didn't miss a beat. "Actually, yes. Put your best Agility gear on the Skeleton Archer. Let the White Tiger soak the damage until the CD resets, then cycle it. Focus your growth on the Archer—if it awakens a Range Aura, it’ll buff the whole squad."
Ash stared at her. The girl was a tactical prodigy. "Vera... you want the Captain's chair? Because you're basically doing the job already."
"And lose my free time? No thanks," she chirped. "You keep the title. You're the 'Gold Brand' of this team. People join because they've heard of Ash Valor. I’ll just handle the actual thinking."
Suddenly, a guild-wide notification flashed.
[Squad Member Nina Fang has eliminated a Level 100 Boss: Team Gold +100]
The quiet Assassin had slipped into the chaos of Ash’s Meteor Volley, found a boss hidden in the chaff, and slit its throat.
"Thanks for softening it up, Captain," Nina’s voice drifted over the comms.
"Anytime," Ash lied, his inner miser screaming. That was my boss kill!
"She got an Epic drop," Grant whispered. "And a Gold-Tier Skill Tome. Total haul is easily over a million Gold."
Ash felt a phantom pain in his chest. I need to stop talking and start killing. "Grant, move. You're blocking my line of sight."
By the end of the day, Ash had triggered 'One in a Million' twelve times. Two hundred and forty permanent attribute points in twenty-four hours. At this rate, he’d gain nearly ninety thousand points in a year.
As the sun dipped below the horizon, a message from Zane flickered in his inbox.
"Ash, stay sharp. A Level 200 pro from Eternal Guild just went down. The world is getting messy. And word is, Crimson Vow is still hunting for your head. Don't let the Guild walls give you a false sense of security. These people don't play fair."
Ash looked at his glowing green skeleton, then at his own rising stats.
"Let them come," he whispered. "I'm not the easy mark I was yesterday."
